Much appreciated Don. It was years before I realized your last name was NOT Colga! ha ha

Always wondered is there any city/civic recognition in your town of Statesboro GA for the song Statesboro Blues? Originally credited to Blind Willie McTell and later classic version by The Allman Brothers. Such a good song seems like there would be a little shrine or placard somewhere?

On second thought... we have no recognition of the Freddie Cannon song Tallahassee Lassie here in Tallahassee FL.

Anyone whose heard Tallahassee Lassie may be as old as me! : )

Cheers...

Freddie was from the Boston area. He worked at my uncle's gas station for a while, but my uncle had to fire him for always showing up late for work because he'd been out late the night before playing with his band. Things worked out for him, though.

I was assigned Doncolga as a username somewhere long time ago and I've stuck with it. I guess it was for DONny COLlins GA (Georgia)

Here's the only thing I'm aware of that we have in town: The Blind Willie McTell Trail

Don, Thanks for the info and Statesboro Blues link. Nice remembrance of the song.

Bill, Too cool. Small world it is. Great acquaintance to have.

Tom, So true. My real fav Freddie Cannon song is Palisades Park.

I think Three Dog Night stole the Palisades Park calliope melody for their song "The Show Must Go On" though... : ) Not that the figure isn't a standard Carnival theme and somewhat universal anyway. LOL

Kind of like Steve Miller stole the guitar riff from Creams Crossroads for his song Jet Airliner. Which brings us back to the Blues.

Speaking of a good night, I got compliments on the sound and music selection at the gig this evening, which was a wedding reception at "The Robin's Nest" here in Statesboro. Sounded great considering the hellacious acoustics. I was stuck in an alcove partly separated from the main hall, which was not great either. I'm usually outside at this venue. This was actually the same venue I used my T30's for the very first time. That was also the first time police were summoned to a gig where I was doing the music. Precious memories.

So today, I arrived at about 4:00 PM for plenty of time for a leisurely setup before the 5:30 reception, but the building was locked and the caterer had the key and would not be there until 5:00 PM. Lucky for me it was a gorgeous day, about 75 degrees, not a cloud in the sky. I unpacked to the shady front porch and took and nap on top of the T30's...they are the perfect height and form factor for that.

Great report Doncolga... back on topic.

Thanks Marc! Amen to the Blues!
I will defer further comment so as not to derail the thread yet again.
