Strange though that the cut out demendions are not given when the side is cut.

The new plans are being used. They have been verified to be different than the old plans. Some tweaking has been done to them as some internal dimensions have changed.

We thought so too. But once you got the numbers all is well.

The more I see others building these the more I think I should just build some myself. The tuba section is crossed over at what frequency?

Wow I didn't think the tubas went that high as far as the plans?! If thats true then that would be a very loud and Killer loudspeaker.

I'll have to wait but I will be following this build and see if I need to build some Davids.

"The David crossover is optimized for the drivers and cabinet response. The woofer upper corner is 100 Hz 3rd order, to counter the rising response of the woofer. The midrange lower corner is 200 Hz 2nd order. Equal output occurs at 160 Hz. The mid crosses to the tweeter at 3.2kHz. The mid LP is 2nd order, the tweeter HP 3rd order. A different midbass could cross lower, and the woofer could low pass lower, but that would send the component values out the roof, and as it is integration is just fine."

I would leave the woofer and midrange the same as in crossover points. I like the fact that the woofer goes so high. I like listening to two channels when listening to music and on my SLA's I just wish I had alittle more volume and bass. But I am using just 3x5's and I am amazed the sound detail and extension I get out of them without the THT.

Dont want to turn this into a SLA vs David but in my mind I have always wondered what a pair of these speakers would sound like. PLUS at 47/48" that is the same height as my SLA's.

Anyways I look forward to seeing some more pics.

Got some time to build today. Snowed in here in Central Illnois. or course before I build I must clear the driveway and repair an enclosure for my livestock. OK not so much livestock as my wife's pet ducks. The wind blew so hard overnight against the garage; in mean: shop door that I had 2 inches of snow inside, my toolbox was covered, and the furnace for the house (which is inside a mechanical room in the garage; I mean shop) froze up and I had to thaw it in the middle of the night with and electric heater. ' built a baffle on each side of the garage; I mean shop door track so that won't happen again.

#1 cause of automobile crashes? Loose nuts behind the steering wheel!

As we used to say at my auto shop .... "There's your problem...It's the nut that holds the wheel".
Anyway, home safely and ... "Time to build the cabinets..."

OK, laying out the drivers on the baffle all I have to say is D@MN!! It's tight at the top. The driver flange overhangs onto the wings a bit. I think it will be fine but it gets tight when you are going to add a grille backer. I'll not as good a woodworker as Bill and I left a bit of wiggle room in the driver cutouts in the backer so I can set it square. This doesn't leave enough matterial to make the 45 degree cut on the edges as indicated in the plans. There just would not be enough matterial left at each side of the upper driver for the backer to remain structural. I did put a round over on it and it looks fine. NOTE: As indicated in the plans it is important to get the drivers as high and close together as possible. I took a bit of liberty and my bottom driver is even with the bottom of the wings. It is not ideal but will be OK as that works into my finishing scheme.
