The DEQ has a limiter. It sits in the Dynamics menu, page 2, under the B-key.DJPhatman wrote:IIRC, the DEQ does not have a limiter function.

Re: Behringer DEQ2496
it has a limiter for sure. but i believe it is a peak limiter. just wondering if it would be sufficient for speaker protection or not. i have an 8024 as well but really enjoy the size, flexilbity and ease of use of the deq.

Re: Behringer DEQ2496
Isn't peak limiter exactly what you need? Brickwalling the output voltage. I'll see if I can find some spare time this weekend, set the DEQ limiter, hookup a multimeter to the DEQ output and see how the output behaves when driving the input hot.
Re: Behringer DEQ2496
that is exactly what i'm trying to figure out. what the difference is between a "peak limiter" and a "brickwall limiter". there are brickwalls listed in the dcx and the 8024, but i would love to stick with my deq if i could.

Re: Behringer DEQ2496
DEQ has a dynamics section which includes a peak limiter, compressor, and expander... but it's really only useful for systems with a single amp (Jacks, Omnis, etc), and then dubiously so. Limiting must be done after the crossover, and the EQ is typically inserted before the crossover.DJPhatman wrote:IIRC, the DEQ does not have a limiter function. Re: Behringer DEQ2496
can anyone clue me in to what the difference is between a "peak limiter" and a "brickwall limiter"? how are they best utilized? is my deq2496 gonna be enough?

Re: Behringer DEQ2496
My understanding is that peak and brickwall are the same thing. You just need to stay clear of RMS (Root Mean Square) limiters as spikes will go through the audio chain.
The DEQ uses peak so should be fine. However, as mentioned, if you need a crossover the limiting should be after that in the signal chain.

Re: Behringer DEQ2496
So, the DEQ and the DCX are designed to work together? Pretty stupid question I guess based on Lelands post...lol.LelandCrooks wrote:That's pretty simple with it. I don't think it will auto adjust for unbalanced lines. I know lots of ht guys use the DCX2496 xover, which is the companion piece. No reason it wouldn't work in that application.
