There were other people there..... However, this was the first time in recollection that a band was set up. They probably didn't know what to make of it. Must've 'looked loud'.

Good news! They want us to come back! I've got to get working on my omnitops now!

By the way, Here's a short clip of our lighting test after initial aiming. I own the sound equipment and a little lighting stuff. The lighting here is owned by the event organiser. When we team up every 6 weeks or so, there is fun to be had!

Wow, that's impressive! As I'm finding out, lighting is not cheap at ALL. That's quite a display you've got there. Moving head fixtures are the way to go. They are also the most expensive things out there. A smoke machine is something I really need to buy. Even cheap lights look much better w/a little smoke.
BTW, how do you control all that? I bought a USB/DMX interface from DMXKING.com and am using Freestyler with an old laptop. I've yet to actually program any scenes though.

I just figured out how to build fixtures from the DMX profile sheet the fixture comes with, and how to control that fixture through Freestyler.

Chauvet Obey 40. Extensively programmed.

I wanted to go with a USB interface b/c I won't have a dedicated light-person to run a hardware controller. Once I get some scenes built and some more hands-on experience under my belt I should be good to go. But if you have someone to run the board, a hardware controller is definitely the way to go.

We have 4 positions filled under the scaffold right now( FOH sound, lighting, projection(graphics) and projection(lyrics/powerpoint). May add a 5th by spring to record the audio of the event. I need to add a second mixing desk for that though, and a good set of headphones. Add to that a videographer or two, and a couple of still photographers. It becomes an undertaking just to keep everyone fed.....

Back on track. No drivers yet but I had to put the boxes together before the wood warped.

Slower progress than I'd like, but progress nonetheless....
I had heard about troubles with cutting the trapezoids so I approached them with a little trepidation. 10 minutes later with the bandsaw all were done perfectly. I let gravity clamp them in place and had pleasing results.

That brick idea is simply brilliant. Why do I learn about the easy way to do things after I've already built my cabs?
Glad to see you've gotten started on the OTops. Looking forward to more pics. What drivers are you using?

I'll use the same 12A woofers you did, but I'm going to try my hand at the NSDs.
I don't see any build threads for them anyway.
Once I cutlist the 1/4" BB, I'll probably Amazon the amount I need.
I'm trying to plan this stuff out very carefully because I'd like to repeat the entire build next year. I figure once I'm up to 8 + 8, I can rest a little while until things get big enough for DR300s and T60s.
