T24 23"dual bp102's vs. T39 23" 3012lf

#1 Post by DJDAVE »

Without using any technical equipment, this was a simple A-B comparison of a t24 23" dual bp102(4ohm series=8ohms total) vs a T39 23" 3012lf. Crossed at 110 and just switching between the two subs with music playing by unplugging one and plugging in the other.
I hesitated on building the T39 because being a DJ, the required music should be live, but wanted to see what all the "hype" was about for myself, even though I LOVE my T24's.
Simply put, "WOW". I'm a mobile DJ, mostly weddings, not night clubs no dnb... so I dont need extreme lows, but the T39 seemed to hold its own on the low end, but was considerably louder when switching back and forth between the two.

Although I haven't used this in a real world situation, based on what I heard, this should be advertised for live bands and dj's.
Soon up for sale, two t24's. :D

Pics and Vid to come. It really did happen

I couldn't agree more! And for a mobile DJ, the T39s are much easier to handle.

No surprise, the T39 has higher sensitivity in the upper bass where the ear is also more sensitive. And of course the T39 is a bigger box.

Video later.

The volume was enough to bother the neighbors, but then I turned it up just for fun for maybe 30 seconds, and later found out that everything in the house was shaking. (Thats just a small addition in the pic.)
She was pissed...I was proud!!!

Want to really be "WOW"-ed? Build another, V-plate them, then add either a pair or 2 of OT112s or DR200s.

Its already happening. Actually started building 2 at the same time, but wanted to make sure that it was worth the time and money before I went any further on the second one.
Needless to say, I'm almost done with the second.

I'm just amazed that I built something this good so for so little.

Thank you Bill!

I do have a video, but the camera I used and computer speakers just don't do the justice it deserves. It really has to be heard live to be appreciated.

I have them on now. I just couldn't wait to try it out, if you know what I mean.

It was only easier for me because I had built the tubas already and was familiar with the build process.
