Delta t2 table saw fence

#1 Post by rec »

I thought I would share my success with upgrading my old craftsman saw with a new Delta t2 fence.
It cost around $160 bucks depending on where you get it.
I have a 10" craftsman table saw that was left to my by my father. Model # 113.298051 to be exact.
When I started my BFM experience a couple of years ago I had no idea how crappy the stock fence was. This is due mainly to my ignorance
of wood working. I am still a noob but learning. So after building a AT successfully and then struggling with OT12's and trying to get my
boards cut the right length. I got totally frustrated with the table saw. I resorted to just using a hand held and a cut guide. While this is ok
I have a table saw sitting there looking at me not being used. I started researching the BFM forum and some other sites and found that
quite a few people have had great success with fence upgrades. My metal working skills far exceed my wood working skills so I figured I
could handle this upgrade. There are already a few sets of good instructions on the web so I am not going to recreate the wheel here. Just
google "delta t2 fence" and you can find them. Any way I finished the fence install today and I was blown away as to how smooth it slides
back and forth, not to mention the accuracy. So anyone that is on the fence(ha ha) about upgrading their table saw fence I would say go
ahead and do it. It is going to make using your table saw safer and more accurate. Better BFM cabs will be the result.

A sharp blade and a good fence make the saw. Delta has always had very good stuff and it will last a life time. If you keep it straight with the blade your cuts will be true. Good choice in you fence. Phil
