OT12 AutoEQ Stuff
I set up my system in my backyard last night. I have a large yard that aims into a wide open area with the nearest buildings 300 feet away. Nothing within 50 feet of either side of the cabs either. I set up my RTA mic about 30 feet in front of the cabs. I ran the AutoEQ on the DEQ just to see what it would come up with. Here is the resulting EQ. Seems pretty drastic to me, but I am new to all of this and wanted to post it to see what you guys thought. If this is reasonable I was going to transfer the settings to either my DCX or the EQ on the XTI to use as my base eq.

With all horns you'll get some frequencies where there's very narrow but very deep peaks and valleys. Luckily the measuring gear is far more sensitive than your ears are. Where it does want to boost or cut by more than 6 to 8dB pull those frequencies back to that amount. You won't hear the difference.

Awesome, thanks!!
They do sound good, and really loud! I will post a review once I use them for real.

You have what seems a big dip at 200 Hz which doesn't seem right. You do have the big dip at 1.25k Hz, which does seem right (did I just say that). I would try redoing it from 250 Hz and up and see what you get. I prefer not to AEQ the lower mids. You can easily change the target curve or range when AEQ'ing with the DEQ.jswingchun wrote:Here is the resulting EQ. Here's one I did with my OT12 at one meter full space outside, AEQ range set from 250 to 12.5K Hz.
Tomorrow I'm going to stop procrastinating - WB

WHy does your gain show at -3.00?WB wrote:You have what seems a big dip at 200 Hz which doesn't seem right. You do have the big dip at 1.25k Hz, which does seem right (did I just say that). I will try to do it again sometime. It's a pain to haul it all out into the backyard across all that grass. Maybe I will do it again and move the RTA mic around a bit and try to get some averages from different locations..WB wrote:You have what seems a big dip at 200 Hz which doesn't seem right. It sounds pretty good now, I transferred the curve from the AEQ session on the DEQ to the EQ on the Crown XTI amp then cleared the EQ from the DEQ and used the AEQ again to tweak it to the room. I then used the parametric EQ with a really tight Q on the DEQ to tweak a couple of frequencies that seemed to need it.
That would be a crazy paragraph to read if you didn't know what the abbreviations meant.
That's the EQ settings gain for that specific frequency. In the case of that pic, it's -3.0 db at 12500 hz.Scott Brochu wrote:WHy does your gain show at -3.00?
