DEQ/DCX

#1 Post by jswingchun »

My DEQ/DCX combo should be arriving today!

I remember a while back reading a post somewhere about connecting them together digitally and avoiding a pass thru the AD converters of the DCX. Can anyone tell me what kind of cable I will need to make that connection so I can pick it up on my way home from work?

I'm sure it's probably in the manual when it gets here, but if I can get an answer today while I'm at work I can play with it tonight.

:iitp:

There is no smilie for "it's in the manual"...

It's an AES/EBU cable. Basically identical to an XLR mic lead but the cable has a different resistance.

Here's an example:

Built:
6xDR200, 2xT39, 2xT48, 2xJack110, 1xOmni10.5, 1xAutotuba, 1xT18, 1xSLA Pro, 1xW8, 1xW10

You are correct. But if the distance remains short, a standard XLR will do. I've never experienced any problems with it. As I haven't experienced any problems using standard cinch cables of 5m for S/PDIF...

Special AES/EBU cables are expensive, btw  ...
BF cabs built to date:
2x T48 21" 3015LF; 1x T48 24" 2xBP102; 1x DR250 2510 loaded, cross firing; 4x DR200 Beta 8, melded array; 1x TT HL-10c; 2x WH Beta 8, melded 'array'; 3x AT 15" Tang Band W8-740P; 1x AT 15" JBL GTO1014

+1 on SPDIF cables. I have used the cheapest cinch plugs and any shielded cable I had available for SPDIF, worked fine for me.
