Linking Two Cabs
Linking Two Cabs
I have a design problem I need help with. I'm building two Jack 110 cabs to use as a bass rig. I want to use just one for low volume situations and the second as an extension cab for higher volume. When they are stacked, I'd like the link between them to be hidden so there is no cable exposed on the back. The problem is I can't figure out a way to do that. The best I came up with was a short 1/4" male-male connector, but that leaves an unplugged hole in the top cab when it is not stacked. Any ideas how to connect two cabs in a stack without an exposed cable on the back?

3 inch wide black gaffers tape and a short cable or some black cloth

IF you're really that concerned about it look into the deep-dish speakon jack plates that leland has. If you mount the jack plates on the back of each jack 110 so that one is on the bottom of the top cab and the other is on the top of the bottom cab you can get a setup that has a very minimal amount of cable showing.

If you are not using grills or just using an easily removable grill you could mount a recessed speakon jack in the top of the bottom cab at the horns mouth exit either left or right of the Top Horn Section. In the bottom of the top box in the same location leave a small exit hole to feed a right hand male speakon plug down through and have the wiring hidden behind the HF horn section if there is one. If not no worries simply run the cable along the horns mating surfaces (bottom and side) and through the baffle to the internal components.
