And that's one reason why after 5 odd years in the lineup the O10 was replaced by something better. You can anticipate that will eventually happen to all the cabs, but only when I come up with something that's worthy.gerryc wrote:What is really needed is a larger vent area (to reduce the air velocity through the vent and prevent the chuffing), but then a duct would need to be added to bring the resonance back to where it is supposed to be (larger vent everything else equal, raises the resonant frequency, longer length lowers it). But then there would be no room in the horn for the larger vent. It could be put elsewhere in the cabinet but that change's Bill's design (I know, I looked into this myself awhile ago). He vented into the horn for a reason. Not sure how well it would work otherwise.

I am using O10s, and have for over 2 years, for DJ PA work, and they may not be pretty, or light, but they sound better than anything I could have bought at Guitard Center! But, being the stickler for good sound that I am, I have 8 DR200s that will be built to take over the PA duties, and the O10s will be cut down to O10.5s, and used as bass cabs and drum monitors. Thank you, Bill, for sharing your designs with us, the born-again believers of good sound without the huge price tag!

Well, I did a gig today with the 2 J110s and they were just the ticket!
There were about 200 people there and the sound man said he had hardly any bass in the FOH speakers as he could hear my rig quite well. Nice bottom end to them and I played my 5str BTB1005 today.
The strange thing about that is you think that if he could hear it well FOH, then it must have been deafening on stage. In fact it wasn't deafening on stage at all, but then again it wasn't exactly quiet either. Every musician was happy with the level and we could all hear each other well, despite the crappy wharfdale monitors.
I'm very impressed with these J110s. They are also such an easy carry to bring them from the car to the stage - one in each hand.

I did a backyard party yesterday with a 2512 loaded J112. 75 x 100 foot yard, 100 people, vocal only PA. The J112 was plenty, powered with only 160 watts.

Bill how would those J12 do with recorded music for the same size backyard?

Did you resolve the "richness" difference between the 2xJ110 and the O10?Harley wrote:Well, I did a gig today with the 2 J110s and they were just the ticket!

To be honest, I didn't even think about it.
I was in a hurry, the J110s were closest to the workshop roller-door, in the car boot they went, drove to the gig, lugged them both to the stage one in each hand, 2nd trip was amp, bass and stand, set up in about 3 minutes flat, flicked on the amp switch and 30 seconds later I was in business.
It was then I thought "Man these cabs are just the ticket!"
So the richness difference, now that you've reminded me, is noticeable to me only when I'm A/Bing side by side.
