My SLA's

#1 Post by Azguard »

Not really a review just thought I would post some pics. I will however say they sound great much better than the 2 way speakers they replaced which are fairly decent. The 2 ways went lower but that will change as soon as I get a tuba built to go with the sla's. I'm amazed at how clean sounding these are and how sensitive. If you want a real review check out Maxmercy's here.

Image shack seems rather slow these are smaller pics

Back small
And some larger pics

Back large

Enjoy.

Very nice...

I see you don't mess around when it comes to the hardware that secures the baffles...those are some pretty hoss looking bolts.

What stain/finish on the baffle? Nice purplish color.

Very nice. Love the bolt heads! Gives it a kind of heavy industrial look. Very cool!

The woofers are goldwood's originaly intended to go in a pair of TLAH's and the tweeters are the onkyo's that come on the 6x9 frame. Both lines wired to 5.33ohms.

Haha yeah the hardware store didn't have enough of the allen style bolts, at that point I just wanted the boxes finished so I used those instead and drilled the holes out enough to fit a socket in there. Kinda like the look it gives them.

The stain is a mix of english mahogany and totara with a few layers of clear coat on top. I think the clear coat may be reflecting the blue curtians in the room causing the purplish colouring - there more of a dark red/brownish. This was my first attempt at staining so it's a little ruff. I was going for a retro (not sure thats the right word) look. Overall I'm very happy with how they look and sound.
