First Build Complete!

I just finished a pair of 28" T-39's, 3012LF, Duratex finish, flush mounted casters. Here's a few pics. If it weren't for all the info on the boards, I doubt I could have finished these. I just fired them up today, and couldn't be happier, except that now I know how horribly anemic my old system actually was... Let me just say this: Everything I read here is true. These speakers are loud and clean. You really can't believe just how lound and clean until you sit behind the board with these beasts pounding away. If you're still on the fence; dive in, the water's just fine!
Here's a little background info: I've been in bands for well over 20 years, playing bass and guitar. I own all the PA gear and sometimes run sound for other bands and have done a couple DJ jobs. My current rig is a pair of "vintage" SP-2's, two double-15 boxes loaded with JBL K-140's, and a 18" Black Widow in a SW-118 style box. I power everything with a pair of PV 2600's through a DRPA and DEQ2496.
Just one more thing: Mad props to Leyland and Speaker Harware . Com! The kit made this really easy and I didn't have to go searching all over town to find stuff that wouldn't have worked half as good.

Here's a shot of the JBL's: I was really proud of these cabinets, before I knew anything.. They're made out of 3/4" MDF, excessively braced and stuffed to the gills with fiberglass. I couldn't begin to guess how heavy they are, I've never met anyone who could lift them. The fact is, if you build a box and stick a speaker in it, it'll work. If you never directly compare it anything else, I recon it'll sound just fine. My new subs have completely changed how I feel about these!

I believe those are the widest T39's I have ever seen - thought they were Tuba's at first with the proportions.

I have a T39 the same width with 2 BP102's. I'm about to cut the monster down the middle extend both sides to 15" wide.

It doesn't have any clothes on at the moment and seeing this is a family site, I'm not posting my cabs nude!

I've got parts on the way for a couple of OT1x12's, 3012HO's to replace the SP-2's. I'd really like to build DR's, but I have to realistic about my wood working skills. I have a really hard time making a straight cut even using a guide fence. I'm wondering if a better circular saw would help. Love the panel jig though! It took me a while to make it slide through the channels without binding, but with a little patience and perseverance it was smooth as silk. I'm thinking an O15 for my bass cab soon as well!

Yes the 28" wide Titans are bigger than I really planned, but I can still pick them up easily and the casters make moving them a breeze. I'll weigh them and report back. They're lighter than a 4x12 guitar cab. I'm guessing I'll only need to use one for our typically too loud classic rock bar band. I haven't done any fancy testing, but it looked like they were easily 6-8 db louder than the 2x15's using the little window on the 2496 in direct side by side comparison.

I'll echo this bit of often repeated advice: BUILD A CARDBOARD MOCKUP!!

Sure these are easy to wheel around and I can easily pick them up, but they take up a lot of pack space and a big footprint on stage. They are much bigger than I "thought" they'd be.
