Helpful hints on how to build 'em, and where to get the stuff you need.

2 Great Jigs for a circular saw...

#1 Post by maxmercy »

Like a straightedge guide, only no more measuring away from the guide...

Like the table saw sled/jig for cross-cuts, but for a circular saw...

For those that do not own a tablesaw, these jigs will save time and hassle in layout and measuring... Due to the size of the panels required for the THT, I am going to build these jigs and report on them in my SLA/THT review...

You not using a tablesaw on your SLA's and THT?

One some of the panels that have fractions of an angle (3 degree angle), how do you get an accurate angle cut?

I'm quite interested. I have a table saw but if these can be done just as easily with a circular saw, I may just use that. Much more portable and easily accessible. I hate moving the table saw around.

My table saw is my main tool for building...I just don't have as great a crosscut capability for the THT, even with my panel jig....I probably need to make a new one. The ability to set small angles is easier with a table saw, but can be achieved with a circular saw...

So it looks like #1 is just the circular saw sled in the BFM instructions? Am I missing something?

The convenience of this jig is that there is no measuring from the edge of the saw's baseplate. Just put the jig on the pencil line and cut...the jig extends to the edge of the blade, making for a more hassle-free cut.

Cool, the plans must have been updated, then...my old plans just show a simple straight edge guideboard...
