I'm a Audio Visual technician for a large Conference venue in the middle of the North Island in New Zealand and just finished using a pair of Titan 48's, 24" wide loaded with 3015LF's. I'm a first time poster but long time viewer and have been reading all about these subs for a wee while now but this was the first chance to use some first hand. These subs were built about a year ago and I had done the initial breakin and finishing off and initial testing which were compared to a pair of Peavey SP218 subs which were literally eaten alive in a direct outside comparision, but up to now the subs hadn't been used at all. Think that will change after the owner has heard them and their capabilities, and now and a few other tech's that have heard them also and amazed at the output of 2 x 15" subs. I had a large banking conference of approx 240 pax in a 22m x 22m metre room with full A/V of screens, projectors, staging, drape line etc.. I had managed to corner load both subs behing the draping as per Bill's recommendations and were Post Aux feeding a Behringer DCX2496 to doing the processing ( HP at 45Hz and LP at 100Hz - 4th Order L/R rolloff ) Highs were sent to 4 x JBL PRX512m with appropriate delay, 3.3 metres to the first pair and an additional 13.5 metres to the last pair with a 7 dB gain reduction to achieve a great, even sound. The Titans were powered with a Crown XTi 4000 in parallel mono and only on one occasion during testing just to see how they went did the -10dB light flicker on the amp ( approx 50 watts going into each cab!!! ). MAN DO THESE PUPPIES DELIVER!!! We had hype music of "Pump It" by the Black Eyed Peas and the punch and depth was totally astounding as well as numerious DVD's were we could let these subs go to work on. Normal operating levels were with the -20dB lights flickering on the amp. We had a band on the last night for our Gala Dinner and I had worked with this 3 lady band on the few occassions ( The Beat Girls ) and have sometimes found them hard work but not on this ocassion, the punters were swinging from the rafters even before they got on with with the music I was playing, and NOT ONCE did they want any adjustments and actually commented on how great everything sounded and were blown away with just how clear and clean everything was espec the bottom end. We also had a quite a few other comments from other parties involved in the conference about the depth of the music and the various comments in previous posts on just how these subs differ from direct radiators is so true!! By conference end these subs were covered in a fine dust from the suspended ceiling but the biggest compliment really was the fact they the subs were clearly heard over 500 metres away in the onsite staff quarters which is a first, ( and remember at -20dB )!! and we've had quite a large a bigger shows with multiple double 18" SRX728's running off powerlight 6.0's!!! Bill you are a absolute genius and deserve to be congratulated.
Peter, the subs owner has another 2 Titan 48's sitting at home collecting dust and now just busting at the seams to get all 4 "V" plated outsided and powered up with 2 x XTI4000's and take it up to the limiter!!! Somehow think that his Elite tops just aren't gonna cut the mustard to keep up!!!
