Photographs - page for photo's of cabinets & stuff

#1 Post by Grey Owl »

Hi all,

Is there a place on the website which just has photo's of everyone's projects in one place.

I've been sorting through hundreds, perhaps thousands, of messages to look at the various enclosures and projects but there doesn't seem just one place where they are all together.

Does one exist please?

Cheers

David :D

Good idea. A sticky "Post photos of your project here" thread.

Someone started one a while back but it slipped to the bottom, there were only a few additions after the thread was started.

Pics that do get posted are all pretty much in this section, and I don't think Bill and Co. cull it so anything that was posted is still here. The photo thread might still be here too, but you'll have to look.

I do remember it took a very long time to load. The more pics you add the longer it'll take.

Hosting pics gobbles a lot of storage resources, and as mentioned unless some organizes and thumbnails, the loadup stinks.
The cost to host ( dollars and gigabytes ) thousands of pics, especially if they are of ( without offending anyone ) less than professional quality, would be a big deterrent.
The oft recommended alternative is to use an image host to post pics.
Then perhaps a separate permanent thread on this forum that contain ONLY the submitted links to the existing pics.

You're in it. Reviews without pic links are that way only because the reviewer didn't post any. As to this becoming a photo hosting site, see Sydney's reply.

Hi I had a big database so I uploaded it all to Photobucket

Go to www.photobucket.com

In the search bar click on the tab and choose to search for PEOPLE

Then type in BILLFITZMAURICE and my album should appear.

If someone is going to make it a sticky let me know and I will link to all the pictures, but having done it once, I don't want to do it again if its just going to get lost in the mists of time.

Thank you for putting together that archive! I know there are a few other pictures which I wish I could see again. Like that pair of green O15s, and the set of T48 / DR250 with the matching full frame grill covers.

Maybe there is a way we can add more to the list you have there before they disappear again?

I dont really mind, to me it would make the most sense for an admin to make a sticky thread, and then we can all upload our photos to photo hosts, and then insert links to them in that thread.

Hey thanks Stu,

Appreciate you going to the trouble.

I've saved some pictures over the months so I'll have a go at uploading them as well.

There was also a video of some guys comparing bass cabinets that was interesting but can't find it now.

Cheers

Instead of one huge thread, it might be more appropriate to have a thread per model. E.g. the "T48 pictures", "T39 pictures", "DR250 pictures" etc, or a thread per forum (Tuba/Titan pictures, DR pictures, Omni pictures, etc). For the mods to decide and set up?

And who will help administer...

This is a large part of the problems. Organization and Administration; Another task for someone to take care of.
Speaking from the perspective of someone who has had to design/org and maintain data and info systems, it is not something that takes care of it's self.
If a simple Metadata system were designed, standardized and adhered to by forum members it would certainly work better.
Without organization and cooperation, AND the time and skills of those willing to be the librarian/administrator, It becomes a mess quickly.
