Textured Rollers

#1 Post by Harley »

I see a lot of reference to Textured rollers mentioned when applying Duratx.

Well, we can't get Duratex here but there is a product called Gator Guard - made by Dominion Seal

http://www.dominionsureseal.com/product ... 5&catid=35

Now, I'm putting on a first coat of acrylic matte-black, and then I'll put on the Gator Guard.

I see some people refer to the textured roller provided by Duratex, but of course, I don't have that luxury.

There is a pack called Hippo liner I can buy that comes with a roller, but it's expensive in the quantities I'll need compared to Gator Guard...which is a stronger product anyhow.

So my question: Do any of you have any pics of rollers that you have used so I can show the paint stores what I mean by a "texture roller".

Most of the non-English-first-language people just interpret that I want to paint rough walls and won't friggin' well listen to me try and explain "NO I want to CREATE a textured finish. English first language paint experts are like rocking horse poop.

Hi Harley,

1 - How much are you paying for the Gator Guard?
2 - where are you getting it from?

Cheers

Ask for Mike, get a price from him.

If you go direct there to the retail counter, you'll pay an extra $40.00 + GST so make sure you phone Mike first.

I cut this one in half. After 20 cabinets and a dozen or so equipment boxes, I am still using the first half.

EDIT:

My bad. I cut-n-pasted the wrong link. I actually use this roller cover for texture.

I used the (second) one that Stan posted on my DR250's and the Acrytech one that Dennis posted on my T39's. I preferred the Acrytech one because I felt like I got better coverage while still obtaining a nice texture. With the first one, it felt like it took a lot more Duratex to get the same amount of coverage. I'm sure that rollers similar to the Acrytech one are available from sources other than Acrytech.
