Received an email from Acrytec outlining an alternative method of finishing a cab. Using Saran wrap to acheive a leather/tolex look.

Pretty cool. I am going to try this on my new cabs.

Re: Duratex "Leather-look" finish
That was the result of someone on this forum experimenting, possibly Leland? I remember a brief mention of it in a thread.
Whoever it was, congrats, you're on the map!
BTW, nice to see you around again vlad!

Yep, it was Leland. Here's the thread where I first saw him mention it.

Thanks Tim!
Not surprising it came from someone here.

Re: Duratex "Leather-look" finish
I think my version looks better than acry-tech's. I told them how I did it, they changed the technique somewhat.

Edit: I hadn't seen that. The original pic they sent to me didn't look anything like mine. That's exactly how I did it. It will be the std finish on all my cabs from now on.

Do you still spray the cab? or are you going to roll?

Rolled it, just because I didn't want to fire up the sprayer for 1 small cab. The heavier the coat, the deeper the graining.
There's a bunch of faux techniques that will translate to duratex from paint. When I get some of these demo and customer cabs done, I'm going to try several.
