Parchment paper even better than wax paper for gluing

#1 Post by psjon »

I found this out by accident. I was gluing with PL and needed some wax paper so that the blocks I was using wouldn't stick to the pieces being glued. I raided the kitchen for wax paper only to discover we were out, but we did have parchment paper (great for baking cookies on, BTW). Parchment paper is treated with silicone so I figured it'd probably work. It did! Wax paper often sticks a little and can leave some residue. PP left no residue and peeled off super easy. I think you could probably reuse it several times which could compensate its price which is higher than that of wax paper. Just thought I'd pass it on.

Be very careful where silicone is concerned, if it leaves a residue a finish won't stick to the wood. Polyethylene also works well, and doesn't leave any residue.

I wouldn't think it would since it's designed for use with baking food, but who knows for sure. I can say that there was no noticeable residue I didn't have any problem with the Duratex that went on it, but I wasn't paying close attention.

Yes! when ever a recipe calls for a sprayed/greased pan, always use parchment paper in its place. It will save you or the Mrs from scraping and washing dishes at the end of the day.

Thought I would share that  I know
