31 band hook up

EQ guys are using on their cabs/systems. A good starting place if you don't have your own RTA.

31 band hook up

#1 Post by Scott Brochu »

I just got a Ultragraph pro fbq3102 and a Multicom pro xl md4600. Now I need to know the way they should be hooked up to my mixer.

Right now for gigging we have our 24 channel uropower behringer (self powered) that runs the monitors. But a signal also goes to the Digital Behringer crossover. Then the signal shoots to the amp (2500 Behringer) than splits, half going to the subs and the other going to the mains.

Question is: were should I put the compressor if I want to compress my snare and bass? should it come out of the channel aux from those channels?
another question is the 31 band eq. Were in the mix of wires should I hook that in? I'll be running 2 seperate channels due to the band running in mono. I would like to eq the mains out front and the monitor mix on stage. Thanks

I didn't know Behringer made a 24 ch powered mixer. Whats the model? Hard to answer any patching questions without knowing the board layout and patching matrix's available.

A quick answer would be to run the bass and snare mic lines right into each compressor channel then into the board inputs. EQ goes before the signal send to the crossover. If your using the boards amp section to power monitors without seeing the board matrix I cant tell you where to patch the second EQ channel in.

The uses of the word matrix borrows from patch bay models and math matrices:
Ron probably means this
Image
A typical back panel and a diagram of the circuit flow and routing and hookup option available for your mixer.
I guessing that's the reason you didn't get an quicker response and without those details,it's hard to give specific suggestions.

FWIW: I would tend to put a compressor POST eq so that an EQ could not blow the gain control the compressor sets.

I was going to check for the Manual or User's Guide on the Behringer web site, but looking at the Behringer Mixer Index - Powered Mixers page, I don't see one that has any more than 20 Inputs.

Take Care,

behringer usually count stereo inputs as 2, so the desk probably has 12 MIC ins, and 6 stereo channels or some combination like that.
-1 for thought terminating cliches.

Built and/or own:
8 x T48 24" 3015LF
6 x DR280
2 x DR250 old style beta10
2 x T36s 20" delta15L
1 x TAT
1 x dual Lab12 30" T60

In Progress:
2 x DR280

sorry guys. I quickly glanced at it before.

its a 16 channel (this is the one we use out, and the one that will be hooked up to the compressor and eq)

You will need to patch the compressor into the channel inserts. This requires a 1/4" TRS to dual 1/4" TS cable. The TRS end plugs into the mixer channel insert jack, the TS ends plug into the IN and OUT of one channel on your compressor - the Behringer manual will show which is "send/return" or you can just swap the plugs till it works. I would suggest that you get a 4 channel "snake" as it's not much more than two individual cables. You'd have a cleaner hookup, some redundancy and expansion capability.
