I just finished 4 T-39's, 16 1/2" width, BP102 loaded, Arauaco plywood, single internal brace, Tim A strap handle, 53 lbs each, 40hz HPF,80hz X-over. I had previously built 2 14" t-39's so I knew kind of what to expect....or so I thought. I was expecting louder and I got it. I wasn't expecting the chest thump to be so much more intense than with just 2 14"ers. These subs are extremely impressive alone but in stacks they are devastating! They don't just sound loud they feel loud also. Bill's designs continue to surprise and impress me.
Thanks to Tim A for the strap handle idea and location, perfect balance, alot easer to move.

Can you clarify? Do you mean the two 16.5" are that much louder than two 14's, or are you describing all of them together?wallywally wrote: I was expecting louder and I got it. Glad the handle worked for you. Sometimes I come up with something useful, even a blind squirrel finds a nut now and then!

Re: T-39 x4
Sorry I was unclear. I mean 4 16.5"ers are way louder than 2 14"ers both v coupled. I can't really describe it as loud in your ears, but loud in the way is feels.... ALOT more chest thump. My ears say it's 6db louder, but my body feels it's 12 db louder.

+1
I wish Tim had thought up that strap handle BEFORE I closed the second side of my T39S's.
I'm still puzzling about how to retrofit a handle on mine...so far I'm uncomfortable with the level of violence I would have to do to my boxes to get in there.
I used four T39S, V-plated and wall loaded in a 4800sqft ballroom last weekend. Several songs I played had content centered on 40Hz (sustained bass notes and keys were the worst). Turns out that the ballroom had all kinds of stuff that buzzed when exposed to 40Hz.
I started trying to keep the buzz down using the EQ to cut around 40Hz. In the end, I gave up and moved the high pass to about 45Hz and stopped worrying about it.
The ballroom manager at the hotel said that they had NEVER had any problems with stuff buzzing in the room with any other sound system that had been used in that room. Well duh! How many "other" subs can put out 40Hz at anything above a whisper (well...a relative whisper)...
