More newbie questions!

#1 Post by rwalkerphl »

Hi All,

Apologies, but I have more questions on my O10 build...

1. Do I put weatherstripping between the baffle and the horn to seal the enclosure, use glue or both?

2. Do I put weatherstripping in to seal the back on as well?

3. if I wire the woofers in parallel, should the wiring be:

+ve speak-on jack to +ve woofer
-ve woofer to resistor
Resistor to +ve tweeter array
-ve tweeter array to -ve speak-on jack

Excuse the ignorance, but I have made a lot of mistakes with the cabinet building, and I realize now I should have relied on the forum to miss some. I must say, I won't make them again though!

Thanks,
Robin.

Use speaker gasket tape instead of weatherstripping

Yes, the cabinet needs to be airtight. Use the speaker gasket tape.

Wire the speakon positive to the woofer positive, and negative to negative. Jumper positive to positive, negative to negative to the second woofer. Glue the piezo resister in the cabinet close to where your piezo wires are running. Connect the piezo positive to one side of the resister, connect the other side of the resister to the closest woofer positive. Connect the piezo negative to the closest woofer negative. Your done! 8)

We all make mistakes. That's what the forum is here for. Learn from your mistakes, read how others have done things, and enjoy yourself!

Thanks DJ! I just got to responding - I spent yesterday afternoon and this afternoon working on the cab... now i have the melded tweeter array complete, wired and tested, the baffle complete ready to be sprayed and have the petscreen added. Then, rout the cab, and paint. I think I may be done next weekend on the first one. Can't wait to see how it sounds!
