Arauco in SE Michigan?

#16 Post by djengineer »

I'm striking out on finding Arauco anywhere around here in SE Michigan. Lowe's didn't even have BB. Anyone know where I can get the Arauco around here so I don't have to spend $50/sheet on something else? Thanks in advance.

Lowes does not carry Baltic Birch djengineer.
Can you find a local cabinet builder around? Ask him where he gets his BB or equvilant. Chances are you could buy right through him.
Depends on what you are building also but I heard on this forum and in some of the plans that you could use good fir, but they ALL recomend BB.
Hope it helps.

I've had good luck with the auroco so far. Although in retrospect I think I would use t-nuts instead of hurricane nuts. It took quite a bit more epoxy to keep them from spinning compared to baltic birch. (maybe because of the slightly different density.)

For those in the Seattle area: Lowes does not carry Arauco here but Dunn/Olson's does. $30 a sheet as of July 2008. Arauco is the correct spelling.
