Nice handle option for DR

Helpful hints on how to build 'em, and where to get the stuff you need.

Nice handle option for DR

#1 Post by Tim A »

I took a chance on this hoping it would fit. It does, barely. It will set right in between the butt cheeks on a 200 without touching them or having to extend the back. The handle is comfortable to grip, plenty of room for knuckles.

To make the 1/4" back strong enough I cut a strip of 1/2" ply just wide enough to fit between the cheeks and sit flush with the top and bottom, then installed the back over it. Routing was done as a unit, but before the back was installed on the cab. The four screws that hold the handle on use T nuts, the remainder use 1/2" screws.

Yes. You could do this with a 250 as well. 280 would probably be out of the question unless you swing from trees and eat lots of bannanas!

nah, after exhaustive testing i found that it was prohibitively difficult to eat a banana whilst swinging from a tree, carrying a dr280. maybe with an assistant or possibly a prosthetic banana feeding device....hmmm, back to the drawing board...
-1 for thought terminating cliches.

Lift, don't yank. I had a pair of those in t24's at one point. They would break the handle out if you jerked the box up. As long as you are nice to them, they'll be fine. Teenage boys didn't understand lift not yank.
If it's too loud, you're even older than me! Like me.

They have difficulty weight lifting as well, not grasping the concept of clean and jerk as opposed to the opposite order.
