Thanks a lot, sounds like a really nice set up, I'm guessing your using the deltalite 12" ?
I am using the psd2002's and was crossing over at 1200 but lately 1500, I am considering to try the deltalites in the dr300's for lighter weight and better upper range response/higher xover point.
DR290s at Outdoor Classic Concert
Additional questions - If you please
How much headroom did you still have?
You mentioned tight vertical dispersion - what about the horizontal dispersion? ( I thought perhaps a few seats in Front row center area would be in an acoustic shadow above 8khz ) You did mention "The sound quality throughout the seating area was great." I see...
What is the xover freq. to the DR290's?
Any problems integrating the LABSUB with the DR290's?
That location looked to be ideal for measuring speaker performance.
Any chance you will be doing that in the future?
I've admired those stands since you 1st posted ( years ago ). I'm sure there would be a market for them in the US - IF reasonably priced.
The stands used by Peavey can cost as much as $2500, though I think you can get them directly from the the fabricator ( in Elkhart Indiana ) for about half that.

I was just touching the -6dB on the console (Yes, my gain structure is calibrated properly)Sydney wrote:How much headroom did you still have?

I did notice some slight HF drop at the extreme angles of the stacks but it was even less noticeable during the concert.
The front rows did get some direct HF from the stage that compensated for this shading.

No problems. I don't tell them they are from different fathers and they play happily together...Any problems integrating the LABSUB with the DR290's?

It realy could have been a perfect test field (...) but the photos are only showing the picture...
During the the off time we had it was too windy and too f***ing hot.
I hope to make some measurments as soon as real ideal conditions turn up.
Thanks, I love them also...I've admired those stands since you 1st posted ( years ago ). I'm sure there would be a market for them in the US - IF reasonably priced.
I think sooner or later reputable truss/rigging manufacturers will come up with (also)
smaller LA hanging solutions aimed at the small and mid sized SR companies/providers.

Thanks for the replies.
As is, it sounds to be ample for the average bluegrass/string band.
If you don't mind the speculation... How/Would you change your setup for the SPL level of rock band ( No, Not EXTREME SPL ).

I could see the whole system ( including stands ) used by community centers/parks, schools and several venues and theaters I've been in.aimed at the small and mid sized SR companies/providers.
Reduce/limit the crowd to 1KHow/Would you change your setup for the SPL level of rock band
Use 3 or 4 dr290 per side + 2 Labs per side (or 4 center stacked)
I found the 'golden' ratio to be 1.5 - 2 DR290s per one Labsub to give a good all purpose full range balance.
Problem is, this is a completely different story then lifting a speakerI could see the whole system ( including stands ) used by community centers/parks, schools and several venues and theaters I've been in.aimed at the small and mid sized SR companies/providers.
and sliding it onto a pole, that can be done by any man on the street.
There is much more to setting up a lifting/hanging device and hanging the stacks of speakers overhead.
Erecting a more complex top hanging device or structure may require specific training.
Operators must know basic static and physics principles and so on.
There is much more weight and height involved and it's over people's heads.
A great potential for disaster if things are not done properly.
As much as this solution may suit such places.
I doubt they could supply the long term professional people to safely operate them.
