Great tape supply for building cabinets!

After looking at PE as a potential supplier for gasket / tape I found that the tape they sell, while great for heavier applications (their closed cell tape appears to be great for the rear access hatch) I wasn't convinced that this was the greatest tape for other applications that require a seal without the same degree of compression.

The "other" applications I'm speaking of include the seal around the HF horn on my OT15TB's and around the corner casters, recessed handles etc. In some instances some plastic hardware cannot compress the PE gasket material without undue stress on the part itself (I saw this mentioned in another post and I agree).

I found this tape and it appears to be perfect for creating an airtight seal in these situations.

JVCC SCF-01 Single Coated Foam Tape (low density)

Comes in a variety of thickness. I'm finding that the 1/8" is perfect for the tweeter horn as it will compress down to about 1/32-1/16" without an unreasonable amount of torque on the mounting screws and on the plastic horn itself.

I use the PE gasketing tape in all of those locations, and even to seal around piezo arrays. It works fine.

That's pretty much what I used to use. I can get it lots cheaper than the PE stuff, but after using both, I much prefer the PE gasket.

Personally I'm not crazy about grey / white gasket material on a black speaker cabinet.

The tape supplier I referenced has tons of options on color, thickness, density, adhesion, etc.

Understood... me neither, If it can possibly be seen.
That's why I said similar, I've also found it in different colors/widths & thickness ( in places were weatherproofing materials were sold and office supply).

Does it matter if it's open or closed cell?

Closed cell is more airtight.
(you don't have to tighten it quite so hard)
Unless the closed cell gasket is smashed tight, air can pass through. Not critical with doors & windows, but definately critical with speaker building.
