BFM HT System

I finished the last 2 retrofit HT-DR200's yesterday set them up and started playing around with the system. All I can say is HOLY SHI*, AUDIO MAN it exceeded my expectations. It was a lot of work building 2 TT's and reworking the HT-DR200's (HT-DR200 is my term they have only a 60 watt driver they are NOT real DR200's) it was well worth it.

The sound is nothing less than astounding at moderate levels (72 db with peaks to 83 db in stereo RS SPL meter) totally balanced bass, mids, and highs to my ears. I set the sub woofer to LFE only and it all sounds great. I would put the system up against a system costing many thousands of dollars (I have seen quite a few in my previous occupation, residential security installer)

The right TT sticks out into the hall almost 3" but it is not a problem for me and SWMBO hasn't noticed it yet. This is my area (the basement) however I am allowed in the kitchen if I wipe my feet.
Some members say the HT-DR200's are over kill and it may well be, but in the end I love my system it has crystal clear sound as I have said before it's quality of the sound not the volume that counts.

Can't wait to own a residence so I can actually do speaker installs, renting sucks. :evil:

The TT's are bottoms bi amped.
So the system consists of L and R main 4 HT-DR200's 2 TT bottoms (replaced T18 bottoms) center HT-DR200 surround HT-DR165 rear surround HT-DR150 sub woofer TT 10" driver corner loaded. The center has a T18 hooked up with it now as I experiment with it. It has the wrong driver in it I used the driver in the TT.

Thanks, I even impressed myself and thats hard to do. In all the homes I have been in I have never heard a system as good as this one (pats himself on the back) and to think I built it myself. It's all due to Bill's outstanding plans the guy is a friking genus.
PS I only installed security systems for 29 years, another year or 2 and I would have got it right.

Day 2 impressions, it's hard to explain but I will try. The amount of sound is awesome it's not volume my RS SPL meter starts at 60 DB most of the time it shows LO and shows peaks of 68 DB with an occasional 72 DB a comfortable listing level for me. The perceived sound is like it fills the room the sweet spot is wide with the melded arrays. it sounds good even at the far end of the room. The TT bottoms were started as attractive speaker stands to replace my T18's on legs. I had no idea how much they would change the system. The bass from the TT's sounds so natural as if they were meant to be to be coupled with the DR200's, to my ears a perfect speaker. Of coarse I had to play U-571 depth charges all I can say is WOW.
