BFM system in the DJ role.

#1 Post by vlad335 »

I Dj'ed my Christmas party where I work for about 50 people last weekend using my Bill Fitzmaurice Omnitops and the mighty Titan 48's.

I know, I know... I didn't need to bring all this but what the hell. People who know me will say that I tend to go over the top with everything anyway. Also, most everyone I work with were going to be there and I've been bragging up this system ad-nauseum. I wanted to see what it could do DJ'ing. Amazingly enough, everything fit in my Chevy Venture minivan with some room to spare.

If you saw the review I did of this system for live sound you will notice this is the same place that we played that night. It's a huge room but since it was a private party they pulled a partion across the middle blocking off the main bar. This can be seen behind my wife in the pic below. Made the room about 50'x40'

The person behind her was indicative of the age of the audience that night. I knew this and adjusted my repetiore accordingly. (Definately not a hip hop or trance crowd.) Found a couple good sites on the net for songlists and also talked to a couple local dJ's to get some ideas.

After setting up, I spent a good bit of time with the RTA on the system and it sounded absolutely excellent that night. The Titan's were thumping out amazing bass and everything was crystal clear. Everyone at the party had a great time and danced their asses off all night. The party started at 6:00 with dinner at 6:30 and I fired up at 7:30. Turned off my system at almost 1AM! I was told that last year everyone had gone home before 9:00. ( I don't know, first time I ever went.)

During the gig patrons at the bar were spilling into the back and joining the dance crowd. At this particular club, this is strictly verbotten with a private party but they did it anyway. The bartender in the front came around and made this known but I don't think anyone left. No one at the Christmas party cared at all.

I got a couple offers to DJ out of it with one girl ephatically wanting me to do her wedding this spring. Man, THIS IS SOME EASY MONEY! Nothing compared to setting up the band and playing. My buddy helped me and we made some decent coin, ate for nothing, and he drank free beer. In addition, we had the system tore down and in the van in like 10 minutes!

I could not be any happier with this system. It sounded hifi but with the slam of a concert PA that night. I heard nothing but compliments on the sound and everyone had a blast.

Once again, I am so happy I wandered into this site last summer.

A great looking (wife) setup, vlad!

Just wondered why you didn't V-couple and corner-load the Titans?

I don't think he needs any help there.
If it's too loud, you're even older than me! Like me.

Thanks man. Great woman too. I am very lucky.

Didn't need to. Plus I couldn't fit the V-plate in the van when we first loaded up. :D Could have easily after I loaded it differently after tearing down that night. After I do it a couple more times probably have even more room. I don't need all these Omnitops anyway. Way overkill.

Something to said about speaker break in with the Titans. They were louder!!! I am not imagining it either.
