DEQ on monitors
OK....another deq question for monitor use ..... i know david is using one and i was wondering about RTA'ing the monitors.....what distance for the reference mic and what setup config are you using....will be trying this on the fly this weekend because i cant get access to my wedgehorns in the trailor till the weekend so just trying to get a heads up on what to look forward to...my deq on the mains is working out well so i hope my monitor setup will work out as well...if it does ..bye, bye, more ashly....thanx

I did mess with eq'ing my monitors flat a couple of years ago ....sounds great for cd reproduction on stage.....no good for cutting vocals through as Bill says.
When I check my monitors with music, I always try and use something with just vocals /acoustic (Eva Casidy songbird is my normal monitor check track) as that is what is being reproduced, anything else sounds thin as I cut upto 100hz. Its also great to hear the same vocals being clearly re-produced through the DR tops...
You can watch the RTA on the DEQ to spot feedback freq's and notch out the offending freq
