OT 1x 12 AMAZING!

#1 Post by loaferz »

Just finished my OT 1x12 this last Saturday morning, and had a gig that night, lol, so kind of a tight fit for time. Didn't manage to get the paint and finer details on yet, but I thought I'd share my review of them.

One word, WOW. These things look and sound beautiful. The highs, mids, and bass all seem to meld together, producing a very flat crisp sound. These things have KICK! The bass on these things is phenomenal, its always so cool to watch the air from the resonance holes blow out tissues 2 ft away when I'm running these babies full blast. Excellent dispersion with the cross firing piezo's, and very tight response in terms of the bass. Working on my T36 to complete my system, but so far, these Omnitops are performing beautifully.

Thanks so much Bill and thank you all for the excellent support base. Easy to follow plans, and a community ready to answer my questions the day I ask them. I'm really hyped about building my t36 and I can't wait to hear how amazing my system will sound with it complete.

If ANY of you mobile DJ's out there or anyone else are hesitating to build these, DONT WAIT! Start em now, and i guarantee by the end of the 2 weeks it take to build them , your ears will be thanking you. Wasn't too expensive to build, used Deltalite 2512 and the total ended up costing only about $150 each speaker. Build BFM and save TONS of money and get SOO much more sound quality.

Ill send in more detailed photos when Im done painting them, but this is what they looked like that night.

Did you run them with subs?

In smaller reverberant rooms the OT12's actually end up doing okay as tops without subs. I'd be very careful running them loud with the bass cranked up as you can easily destroy the 2512 in that scenario. They do get down to 80Hz okay though and it looks like the performance was in some sort of larger band hall at a school which would probably fit that room requirement. Loaferz, be careful with them until you get your Tuba done. T36 is going to be serious overkill for those, but it'll definitely pound without breaking a sweat.
