Coventry UK Pride all-dayer

#1 Post by 88h88 »

Hi gang, long time no see.

After probably more than a decade hiatus my friend Matt has gotten the DJ bug again so I've pulled out the old kit and it now all lives at Fargo Village in Coventry. A friend has use of my T39s in a spot there and I use the T60s and OT12s in another. On the 9th of August I'll be setting up so we can spin some tunes for the local Pride event. We'll be running from 3pm until the spot empties, we run out of beers or we get kicked out. Seeing as the venue is a brewery I doubt that second one is going to happen. Disco, house, Italo, bass and whatever else we deem fits the occasion... Rare chance anyone is in the area but feel free to roll on through, sample a beer or two and chat shop.

The kit is used for other Discoblique events, we do one a month in an attempt to give the city some decent tunes on a decent system for once. System is reasonably dialled for the venue at this point, I do want to build a couple of wiiiiiiide T60s though for more firepower.

Hi Bill, we've had some lovely comments about the sound quality on the kit so thank you very much for the designs and the knowledge that apparently made its way into my brain and stayed there.

You are most welcome. Knowledge is only put to good use when you pass it on.

That is so true. I've been passing on the knowledge that I've gained here to others for over a decade.

The art that I've learned over 45 years in sound has come from experience, but the science has come from Bill - and for that I'm thankful.

Yeah the 2 T39s I'm letting a friend use across the way have been part of a learning experience for him. We chatted about limiting first and foremost and that if he wanted to use the subs I'd only let him if he bought a limiter I could set. He was fine with that and bought a PA2 and then I got to show him RTA and EQ generally, crossovers, time alignment, phase and what affects what. He's been slow to take it in and a little nervous changing settings but he'll get there.
