Tuba30 amp advice

#1 Post by mrcrj01 »

Anyone ever installed a subwoofer PLATE AMP on a Tuba?. If so, how did it work out for you.
I keep thinking about it, but not sure if it's a good idea or exactly how to do it.
Please let me know. Thanks much.

I'd only do so if your mains are self powered. Otherwise there's nothing to be gained. It would have to be one with XLR inputs, and if you don't have an external crossover and limiter that would have to be built in as well, like this: https://www.parts-express.com/Dayton-Au ... quantity=1

Thanks so much for your quick response Bill, well appreciated. I do have some powered mains which i use and will definitely look into going this route.

Make sure you get the one with enough power. The Dayton specs are almost always based on a 4ohm output. So, depending on what driver is in your Tuba, you might want to step up to the 500 watt version.

They are loaded with the Eminence 3012LF so maybe i will opt for the 500 Watt with DSP.

mrcrj01 have you decided on the build/amp? I also run powered mains, and looking to have either a Titan/Tuba sub. Considering plate amp to make it all more streamlined..
