Which Simplex 15 Cab?

#1 Post by biodad »

In the SPL Charts, this can't be accurate for the 15 inch Simplex ported sub? 115 at 40z? Might wanna fix that. . .
This is the heading for the 15 inch sub - The Simplexx 15 Bass cab, BP1525 woofer, Sealed versus Ported Low Frequency Maximum SPL:
Not sure how to copy / paste the graph. It isnt working when I try

I have a 20 inch T39 with the best Eminense neo cone ( whatever was recommended ) and it's larger and louder than I need.
I was told two of the Simplex 15 inch subs is approx equal to my T39. I'd want 2 subs for the rare times we are loud.
For most of my work one 15 inch Simplex cab will do. I never need to push the T39.

I'll be using it as a sub for my small PA mains. I'll use 2 or 4 mid/high boxes each with a 6" Alpha 6A and a 6 tweeter melded array = 3 rows of 2.
Choices are the Bass Cab, the PA Cab or the Pro Sub. For a small PA, which single box is best? I play Dueling Pianos mostly but will also do
Rock and Fusion with synths at times.

I'm thinking any of the 3 versions will be fine but as indicated by the name, the PA or Pro version would be best? Thanks for any advice.

That's maximum SPL at maximum power/excursion, not sensitivity at 2.83v. It's correct.

If you're primarily using it/them as subs in a 2 way system, choose the Pro Sub version. It's the right tool for the job.
Build in process - 2 WH6, one Alpha 6a loaded, one PRV Audio 6MB250-NDY loaded

Two 2x6 shorty SLA Pro's
One T39, 16", 3012LF loaded
Tall AutoTuba, 20" wide, 2x 8" MCM 55-2421
TruckTuba, 8½" wide, 2x 8" MCM 55-2421

Pro Sub it will be. Does it seem two of these are equal to a 20 inch T39?
Thank you

Is it a pack space issue? I know I'd much rather roll in a single T39 than to carry in even a single Simplexx Sub. The size of two of 'em is bigger than the T39 you already have.

6 - T39 3012LF
4 - OT12 2512
1 - T24
1 - SLA Pro
2 - XF210

I am thinking a single cab fits in the back of the vehicle, the T39 required a small trailer.

Here is a problem I have

Sometimes I'll fire up my amp and the bass channel isnt sounding. Is it the amp channel, cable, speakon jack?
I'll try different amp channels and I think I have the same situation.

If I turn the amp channels all the way down and crank the main fader on my mixer all the way up and slam my
left hand hard on the lowest octave of the pianio, it seems to "jar" something loose and the bass will sound after
I turn that channel fader up.
What is that from? It's as if I am using a plunger in a toilet to force a line open.

There's a bad connection somewhere. The speaker is the least likely, but you can rule that out or confirm it by trying a different speaker. The same for the rest of the components.

I will look at connections. Puilling it all apart and getting at everything is almost as bad as setting up from scratch cause the room is small but oh well.
It does this on fire up. I've had it drop out while performing. Might have to re build a cable. I'll try different amp channels too. Thanks for advice
