Lab 12 front Horn custom ?

#1 Post by flo26250 »

hello from France, I tried to contact the person who manages your sub in France (fabrication- enceinte.com ) but the contact page does not work.

I currently have 4 lab12 enclosed in my home cinema, but it's very lacking under 50hz and I have almost no physical feeling.

I saw that it was planned as a base to be in Horn func I say to myself why not.

my soundproof canvas is about 57cm from the wall which leaves me 50cm to do the sub

I would like to know if it is possible to make a front horn with 1 lab 12 (so 4 boxes)

I can make 2 large columns of 210cm (so 2 boxes per column)

width 65cm
depth 5ocm
height 210cm

listening point distance 360cm

cinema standards indicate that you should ideally have a sub capable of 115db at the listening point of 5hz-120hz
which must be possible in theory in horn as I will not use the maximum power of the sub.

Here is already knowing if it is possible and how much would cost a tailor-made plan?

Thank you so much

I have trouble expressing myself I use Google translate.
I can make 2 columns of 210cm but I have to put 4 boxes.
the bzs profile box is 182cm so not possible.

so each box must do maximum:
105cm height
65cm width
50cm depth

so I would like a custom plan if possible? obviously paying

The charge for a custom design is $2,000.

Since you list the dimensions it means you've decided on the placement. Bad idea. Subs must go where they work best, not where it's most convenient/looks best/you wife will allow them to go. A horn loaded sub loaded with a twelve capable of your requirements is not possible.

In any event you should have no problems reaching down to 25Hz with LAB 12 in well designed bass reflex cabs of 120L or less. That tells me your cabs are not well designed.

I do not realize that it could be 2000 dollars, it is indeed out of budget.

the location of the subs d is not me who is chosen, but a professional acousician after acoustic study of my room.
I've almost finished the acoustic treatment and I'm at around 250-300ms at rt60 over the entire frequency band, which is pretty decent.

of memory have gone on closed to reduce the delay group, while the bass reflex created too many problems and not enough space at the time. and I've never heard of a reflex subwoofer that suits me in terms of bass quality (poorly designed, perhaps)

finally good thank you for the information, at worst I will test just 2 boxes in horn, that will be enough for me surely.

Where group delay and subs is concerned you can't hear it, so it doesn't matter. Sealed subs are appropriate in autos and small rooms only, where cabin gain will fill in the lows. Well designed reflex subs are superior to sealed, so if you haven't heard a good one you haven't heard one that's well designed.
