My apologies for not writing this review sooner. However, I'm primarily an earphone player and practice to Spotify or whatever my current interest is (i can lose hours this way

). Tone and Hi-Fi mean a lot to me since I can hear everything with studio earphones. That said, I made a goal a little over a year ago that I wanted to play live again with a group and to start acquiring the gear needed. I'm handy in the shop, studied up, and decided to try a BFM build. I chose the J15 and had a blast building it. Even building the crossovers was fun. First of all the it looks like nothing i've ever seen before. And when people figure out the there are 16 piezos wired in it, it instantly becomes a huge talking point. Then I wow them with the three way slider switch (all of which I learned how to do right here)!
Naturally I was very excited to shake it down. First paired it with an Ampeg PF50. The PF50 sounded good a little midrange heavy/ honky. But the PF50 clicked randomly very loud. I tried different earphones and basses, but kept on clicking. I returned it for a GK legacy 800 amp head.
I finally got a chance to use it over the weekend with a three pc group. We played mostly grunge rock, so the guitar player was awesome but very loud and consuming in the band mix.
I am very happy with how the J15 handled it. It cut through the mix like a warm knife through butter!
If I had only three words to describe it:
Punchy
Crisp
Articulate
And that's all I wanted
Bill, it's almost like you designed that thing specifically for bass players!...I may build another to pair it with?
Thanks dude
