Mostly finished - Four T24s and two DR200s

Just wanted to post some semi finished pictures of these tubas and DRs I helped a buddy with. He'll paint em.
The nacells on the DRs were particularly challenging, but I think they turned out good. I did post some tips there on my previous post on compression horn tips and tricks.

Those came out really nice JD. They look very consistent from one to the next, and square.

This is the 7th and 8th Dr that I've made, so I suppose practice makes perfect.
I tell you what that Baltic Birch sure makes a difference.
I think one tip would be to make sure that the core assembly of the dr's is as close to perfect as you can make it. And when you glue the top and bottom pieces to that core assembly that you take the time to make sure they are square.
The one thing that I wish were in the plans is to instruct you to leave the final side of the tubas rough cut. This will make the 9th t24 that I have made and every time the side never comes out exactly Square to the assembly. So if you leave it a little big so that it overhangs the edges you can just take your flush trim bit and a router it for a nice Edge all the way around.

Not everybody has a router and flush trim bit but if you do then that is the way to do it.

Another thing I did is took scrap and made a guide for my circurlar saw to ride up against when I cut out the access door.
Not only did this help me make straight cuts. But I was quickly able to do the following pieces in succession.



I forgot if I posted this in my T45 build. But I also drew up the profile with Draftsight. It's like auto CAD, but Free! Don't worry it's legit, you guys should check it out.
Anyway I was quickly able to pencil in the layout without having to measure evey piece. This was also helpful in flipping it over and drawing a line down the middle, so I could easily see where to line up my Brad nailer.

Since we are sharing tips, I'll share mine. Don't bother next time with the nacelles, they are unnecessary. Look at my DR250 build thread in my signature. Page 9, post #124 explains how I attached my high frequency modules. 4 screws and done, solid as a rock and air tight. Just play with the weatherstripping thickness to get a good compression seal.
