WH10 build started
Re: WH10 build started
Slow but steady progress. I used the panel jig to trim the horns. Then installed the ducts, spacer, and phase plug before test fitting the drivers Managed to get the melded array mounts installed before calling it a day
Re: WH10 build started
Glued up the horn and side last night on all four. This pic looks really messy due to the squeeze out, but the fit was pretty good and I think they'll clean up nicely.

It's been a while since I've updated my progress. I did lose about a week due to work travel, but doubled down over the holiday. Here's the freshly trimmed horns all installed

Re: WH10 build started
I took a break from the boxes for an hour or so to build a couple jigs and trim 32 piezos

Re: WH10 build started
I spend way to much time applying Bondo and sanding it back off. Unsure if I actually need to fill all the little holes left by the brad nailer, but I do anyway. Managed to finally get a coat of black latex paint of the boxes. I love seeing the boxes finally looking like a speaker.

Re: WH10 build started
Looks like your doing good from my seat, Preston!
If you are going to DuraTex the cabs, now is the time to. Just do a "smooth" coat on the piezo braces.
Helpful hint: Put foam tape on the piezo braces where the array makes any contact. This will save you from chasing tiny "rattles" at certain frequencies later on.

Thank you DJPhatman! Yes, planning to Duratex these. Good idea with the smooth coat on the braces and the foam to dampen the piezo rattles.

Also, dab a little hot glue on each piezoelectric solder tab to plastic housing if there's any loose ones after soldering.Preston wrote:Thank you DJPhatman! Yes, planning to Duratex these. Good idea with the smooth coat on the braces and the foam to dampen the piezo rattles.
You're going like a train on these, well done.

Re: WH10 build started
Speaking of arrays, assembled these last night. I built a couple jigs, both for trimming and assembly, that made this chore go quickly and pretty smoothly.

Re: WH10 build started
Good tip Charles, thank you! Shewhomustbeobeyed is already losing patience with how long I've been working on these, but I'm in the home stretch. I know that attaching the last side on a box is usually about halfway done.

Waiting on a couple parts to finish all the crossovers, but I was able to build two and mounted them to the access covers.
