I'm bringing my SLA's and T24 to a backyard BBQ Saturday and I have 2 dead tweets in one cab. Yeah they're the Goldwoods. How can I rewire it for 6- 4ohm tweets to keep it at 4 ohms total. I could do the same for the other cab so they're sound even. My brain is hurty and can't figure the series/parallel math to save me.
edit: they're the 6 mid 9 tweet version

Re: Multiple driver wiring
Three in series to make a set, both sets in parallel.
Will the tweets match the woofs in output this way?

That's what I was thinking but I can't math good.Tom Smit wrote:Three in series to make a set, both sets in parallel.

The mids are 8ohm wired as 2 series wired banks of 3 mids in parallel

Re: Multiple driver wiring
That would make the total 6 ohms. That will mess up the crossover a little bit, might not be too bad. using 4 tweets would keep it at 4 ohms but sensitivity would be down almost 6 db. Eq'able but make sure you don't push them too hard.Tom Smit wrote:Three in series to make a set, both sets in parallel.

Re: Multiple driver wiring
So I cracked open the bad cab and guess what? The 2 bad tweets' magnets fell off (again). I had to glue them back on soon after I built them. Cleaned up some solder joints and it was back in business. Cracked open the other cab for fun and guess what? One magnet fell off a tweet! The hot glue gave way on my crossover board and knocked off a coil and pulled a solder joint off
. Good thing I checked that cab cus it was a mess. Fixed all that nonsense and they sound great again!
Guess these HT version wasn't designed to move around much.
In the close to near future I'll be making a pair of OT12's, so this'll be my non-PA SLAs last hurrah outside where they'll then make home in my distant to hopefully this decade HT setup.

Re: Multiple driver wiring
Perhaps some epoxy would work better than hot glue....use hot glue to temporarily hold them in place, and then add epoxy to keep them there.

Jimbo, have you zip/cable tied the components as well?
