Seriously. What is it with "Mammagamma" that just simply blows my shit up?

So what if I can't help but bury the f***n volume knob while driving to this song.

First it melted the power supply in my factory head unit. Replaced that a while back. Now, just last week it fried the crossovers in my door speakers. WTF?

I love the song. It's produced flawlessly. Gets the Auto Tuba kicking the floorboards hard as a mule and just begs to be cranked, but it's starting to become a rather expensive hit.

Shame on them for making such cantankerous music.

My guess is it burned out the ceramic resistors or they got too hot and melted everything around them?

I've been tossing the idea around of simply R&R'ing the entire door speakers, but the Infinity's that are installed right now are kind of special in that have these really nice neodymium motors that aren't available any longer on the new ones.

Now that you mention it, they (Kappa 62.7i) are equipped with a selectable -3dB cut in the form a big resistor wired in shunt, located right there on the tweeter pod. Easy enough to get at in order to measure.

Maybe that's all that got cooked, because by the sound of things, everything else checks good with the exception of a tonal shift upwards that I've experienced. No rubbing noises or drop outs. Plenty of good clean output from everything during sweeps...except everything sounds brighter.

...a lot of low mids, perhaps? Have you listened to it with headphones or earbuds, but not with the bass cranked/proud? There is almost a drone during the whole song, along with the lower freqs of the keyboard through it.

My son was enrolled in a local community college recording arts program. One day he mentioned they had a "Guest Lecturer" come in and address the students on his recording techniques. "Some guy ..." my son told me... "I never heard of him.... Alan Parsons?" ..... After I lifted my jaw from the floor I told my son who that was. "Oh," my son said, "I wondered why he asked why nobody had questions about Pink Floyd"
