Charlie's DR250s

#1 Post by CBIERN »

O.K. I am recovering from gigging both Friday and Saturday nights with my new DR250s and I know I feel asleep with a big smile!
Has anyone ever mentioned how smooth and sweet sounding these tops are? I'm talking high end HiFi sweet!
Did anyone ever mention that they really look cool (hip, gear, fab)?
Did anyone ever mention that they weigh so little you can pick one up in each hand?
Did anyone ever mention that they can cover a good sized club (no stage) packed with bodies (around 250-300) with a 200 watt amp with measured 105db peaks @ the board around 40 feet away without the amp breaking a sweat? (on 38" poles above the T24s so the midpoint of the speaker is about 6' off the ground)
(I'm also running another amp in bridged mono to feed the T24s 600watts but while we mike everything acoustic and electric guitars, bass, keys, 5 mics on the drums, congas and 5 vocal mics, we're not a bass centric band so the sub amp sort of loafs along.)
Crossed at 100hz. Almost no eq tweaks.
So many PAs are an assault on your hearing. Your ears are beaten into submission. With the DR250s and a good pair of ears at the board you get a big clean detailed sound without the pain.
Did anyone ever mention that the DR250s are the ultimate bang for the (labor) buck?
Let it be written. Let it be so.
