I'm holding off until someone (NI) produces an AIO unit with Traktor built-in to the unit (i.e. no laptop required). Pioneer have done something similar with the XDJ-RX. To me this is where controllers are evolving toward, so I am waiting for NI to release this ultimate Traktor controller. My 2c

Stanton released the SCS.4DJ years ago which was a self contained controller with software built in. It's supposedly pretty damn good if a little flimsy.

I keep looking at the price waiting for it do drop so I can have a play.

I don't see it happening on a large scale any time soon.
The problem is, having to build a computer, an operating system, a video card, and hard drive space into a controller is going to push the price point to the stratosphere... which would be a bad thing, considering the race to the bottom that's been happening lately.
Not that it wouldn't be viable... it would just (imo) be a money-losing venture, unless they can make it cheaper than a similar laptop+controller combo and sell a whole bunch of them. My guess is, it would have to be less than or at the $1000 price point.

The above-mentioned Stanton SCS.4DJ is a stand alone controller with built in software that will analyse and beat grid tracks from a USB you plug into it. Retail price is $500 but you can get it for a fair whack less.

Pioneer stuff has a massive fucking premium on it and I find it insulting yet here I am with yet another Pioneer product. I buy the DDJ-SX and find it missing a few features and 6 months later the DDJ-SZ comes out WITH those features and a further $500+ price on top. :(

That's why Pioneer make 'professional' products. They price it so us mere mortals cannot truly afford it. I feel your pain bro!

It annoys me because I know their game exactly and yet I still feel like I need to buy their stuff because it's genuinely better quality than anything else I've used.

Mug. :(
