Otop Build

#1 Post by escapemcp »

Saw an Otop build on a Phillipine website:

http://talk.philmusic.com/index.php?topic=219268.100

Pages 5-11 (except p.8 ) are the ones you are interested in - look for the "Z-Audio Systems" posts (or the OT pictures  )

Dunno if this build has been on here previously, but thought it worth posting, just in case.

Re: Otop Build

I think this fellow was here about 12 months ago, asking about ply/drivers/PL.

His build looks pretty nice, but who knows what he ended up using for adhesive.
Presumably biamping, but I see none of the required caps etc.

As far as going for recommended drivers, errr no.
CD's are RCF N450 for first pair. RCF has a pretty good name.

And the second pair used JBL 2426's. Actually, they are clones I reckon, because they have been painted with that number and are missing the JBL logo.

As far as drivers, all 4 were built using P AUDIO C12 500MB:

Driver doesn't seem to be to spec at all.

It's a great reminder that the TS parameters of the components need to fall within spec to give the desired results from the design.
I bet old mate loves his cabs, but has no idea what they'd actually sound like if built, errr, right...

edit: he may not have put the build up here because of all the above factors.
And I wonder if he had any polarity issues with the JBL's? JBL uses +ve to black connector for forward movement IIRC
Built:
DR 250: x 2 melded array, 2x CD horn, March 2012 plans.
T39's: 4 x 20" KL3010LF , 2 x 28" 3012LF.
WH8: x 6 with melded array wired series/parallel.
Bunter's Audio and Lighting "like"s would be most appreciated...
