Cutting dadoes and PL glue

#1 Post by shrub0 »

I'm building a 2 pair of davids in the fashion of the original Audio Xpress in which the internal boards making up the sides of the speaker are dado or grooved in.

The internal board are cut 1/4" wider to allow for 1/8" going into the sides on each side. When setting the depth of the router should I set it at close to .125" as possible or should I make it bit larger too allow for expansion of the PL glue?

I guess my question simplified is tighter better when using PL glue?

Set it to .125 inch. When you install the panel, make sure that it's pulled tight to the side and squeezing out the PL (squeeze-out equals a leak-free joint).

I didn't see the original post when it first appeared. The original David was one of the last speakers I did before using PL, I wouldn't dado them now.

Progress has been slow because of other projects around the house.

I'll post a write up once I'm finished.
