OCD cable management

#1 Post by SoundInMotionDJ »

For all the OCD DJs who need some cable management that goes a step beyond the "custom cable snake."

The Sterlite plastic is a bit brittle...but the idea is still great. I intend to steal this one outright.

It's clever. Not something that I would use as a live sound guy. If I were going to make it I would look at a cheap tool box instead of the sterlite box cuz like you said, those are pretty brittle, especially if they get cold.

I have a custom cable snake for all the USB cables that I need. Everything is folded and wrapped to a convenient length. The big advantage is that I have one big bundle instead of half a dozen individual cables. It makes a HUGE difference in my confidence that I have not forgotten a cable or left one behind.

BUT, I still need three plugs at most events: laptop, two controllers, and a powered USB hub. The controllers and USB hub use wall warts and are inconvenient. I carry a power strip now, but keeping all that in any kind of box and having only one plug come out into the booth is a big step forward.
