He also says he likes tapped horns better than folded horns because folded horns have higher distortion. At that point i stopped talking to him.

I very much doubt Eminence had anything to do with that driver, and yes, he doesn't have a clue, as tapped horns have higher THD than front loaded horns. Plus there's no advantage to using a driver of that sort in a horn anyway. My bet is that he's just plain full of it.

As I prefer to say: "Not TAKES 7000 watts, REQUIRES 7000 watts. (or 3500) "

More amp = more $$$
2 DR250s, 2 27" Lab15 T-60s, 2 30" Neo Titan 39s, 1 Autotuba...and looking for more!

Those things are simply made to look impressive in a car installation. I laugh when I see these guys claiming thay have a 1000w sound system in their cars. I assure you, if I take a 50W Marshall head and a quad box, drag it into their car and fire it up at ful volume, it will take your ear drums (and probably your windows) out for good :-)
Built
2 x DR250 (Kappalite 3010MB, ASD1001S)

Yeah, these guys sitting in a car with a kilowatt at 25Hz doesn't impress me. However, if the guy could sit with the windows rolled up listening to a kilowatt or so at 1Khz through some efficient speakers, that would be impressive. I'd even pay money to watch!

Bill and I both know eminence's chief designer. Pretty sure he'd have nothing to do with that. And they don't do one offs.

I'm an engineer. I build things, I design things, I make stuff work. I had to concede a number of years ago that engineers don't make all the money; marketing, manufacturing, supply chain, service etc make money too.

The specifications aren't the only reason that a product may 'work' for someone.

In reference to the Eminence Engineer, there is nothing that I would despise more than someone taking my work, butchering it, defacing it, breaking it, adding crap and then to keep me 'happy', put my name all over it.... I have no idea what point if any I'm trying to make. Maybe I've had a bad day.

I think I've seen that motor before.
Pictured below, are five of them attached to a NASA subwoofer / rocket.

Honestly, I saw Interstellar last weekend -- loudest movie I've seen (during the rocket launches anyway)
Couldn't help but pull out my phone RTA app to measure the low end -- peaking during the rocket blasts at 30 Hz!
