Greetings from Albany

#1 Post by skin »

Greetings folks.

I am a bassist from upstate NY.I love sound! These forums are an awesome source of info so I figured I would sign on an say hello.I'm still learning alot about this stuff but i really dig it.I havent tried too many speaker cabinets out though i have been playing for some time.I've gotten into the habbit of pulling the speakers out and at least seeing what they are and most of what i have used has been Eminence,Sica, and I just got my first EV 2x10" and a 15".I like doing side by side comparisons if speakers.Speakers are fascinating to me.Anyway my 4x10 is getting to be a bit much to lug around so I'm going to get a flat pack from speakerhardware.com and trade my 4x10 for the speakers.I'm still trying to decide which one will be the best choice for me.I play small clubs around Albany mostly and I play alot of Primus covers and funky stuff.I'm not a woodworker but I am handy and good with tools.I would like to eventually build a Jack 12 but I think I'll start with a Simplexx 12 with tweeter or a 2x10 with a tweeter.I am considering using a Kappalite 3012lf but i'm not sure which tweeter to go with.Is the APT 80 the best tweeter for this speaker?Eventually I would like to build many more BFM cabs so I think this will be a good start.

I started with a Jack flat pack and they really aren't that hard, not a bad place to start.

If you're building tops the SLA pros are a real easy build and work great...I haven't touched my Jacks since I built mine!
2xJ15, THT, 4xT39 3012 (2x15", 2x20"), 2xSLA Pro, 2x short SLA Pro (Dayton), W6
