Could use some help finding something on the CD!

#1 Post by bjm362 »

On the site, under Omnitop 15 there are two different cabinets pictured. The one on the top I can't find in the plans on my CD. I probably am overlooking it, or it could have been an accidental omission. I really think that both of these have the potential to come into play depending on a number of variables. Hopefully you can guys can help me find it!

The top horn pictured here is the one I can't find! http://www.billfitzmaurice.com/OmniTop15.html

That's a melded array......it's definitely in the plans. If you mean the box itself, that's an older picture of an older version of the OT15.

Not many build the OT15 as the OT12 is all you need with subs....and is smaller and lighter.

6 - T39 3012LF
4 - OT12 2512
1 - T24
1 - SLA Pro
2 - XF210

That's an older OT15. The newer ones dont have the extra throat pieces.

Yeah, I was talking about the box, not the array. It is part of why ordered the CD. I have to wonder what all size variations that came in, and are those plans available at all!

The plans on your CD are the latest versions.
Plans are updated when there is improvement to any given cabs design.

I guess Bill might have older plan versions...
Built:
DR 250: x 2 melded array, 2x CD horn, March 2012 plans.
T39's: 4 x 20" KL3010LF , 2 x 28" 3012LF.
WH8: x 6 with melded array wired series/parallel.
Bunter's Audio and Lighting "like"s would be most appreciated...

I don't. They're not as good as the latest version, so why would I keep them?

Looking for solutions, rather than creating problems .....would there be a possibility of a rework of that horn, preferably in an 8" or 10" version be in the not to incredibly distant future. I do realize btw, that that horn does have some very specific needs from the driver and that request may not be feasible. Drivers without really strong cone material will self destruct under the load. That may be a part of why you discontinued it.
Horns like that also don't use as much Xmax to drive the horn, but require exceptional heat dissipation as well and thus the Xmax still has to be high! Those requirements may have created some undue headaches for you from those that didn't head the driver requirement warnings...just guessing, but pretty likely.

Anyway, I am not over stressing on it, but still hoping!

If you do happen to run across a set that wasn't deleted, you have my Email! Probably not going to happen, but worth a try!

No, because the current version works better.
