I have my own answer but I would like to hear yours.
At our church we have a digital desk, and a Solus8. The mixer feeds the Solus8 which divides the frequencies to go to three different amp channels (low, mid and high). Coming from the Solus8, also, is a cable wired into a box. The box has four buttons: pulpit(and lectern), wireless (pastor's mic), music (for playback and live), and mute(FOH and monitors). Each button engages a different EQcurve, and there is the question: is it necessary, in your opinion, to have three different EQs?

Re: Solus8
The EQ curves are probably optimized to give best gain before feedback in each setup. I do this occasionally when a "simple system" is required.
As long as it sounds good, go with it. If something sounds bad, reprogram it.
BTW... Solus is a great processor. I wish I could put them in every install.

99% of the time, things that aren't already being done aren't being done because they don't work. The other 1% is split evenly between fools and geniuses.

Nah, it doesn't sound "bad". And, agreed, the Solus8 is a great tool!
I guess you could say that I have a gripe with the setup. If the lectern mic, a handheld mic and the wireless mic were used all in the same session, so to speak, which EQ curve does one use without banging on the preselect buttons constantly? Or, suppose there is a shortage of handheld mics, which then results in the wireless being used at the same time for a song? Which preselect is to be used?
My thinking is to follow what Dave Rat suggest. Flatten the house speakers and EQ to taste. Then EQ each fader strip to match the voice/mic on that strip for the natural sound (or the effect that one is looking for).

Glad to see Dave Rat agrees with me....that's what I'd do.Tom Smit wrote: My thinking is to follow what Dave Rat suggest. Flatten the house speakers and EQ to taste. Then EQ each fader strip to match the voice/mic on that strip for the natural sound (or the effect that one is looking for).
