The American Engineer Society has a "white paper" on the legitimacy of this product as pretty much a enhacer which doesn't EQ, introduce noise from non source hardware/ internal components. However, I know that most non digital internal structure will introduce a non legible amount of noise, such as .ooo5 % or so. Based on my theory. Screw my theory and let's get to the meat and potatoes of this issue.

I will not use a would, could, should question. Because I'm sure that I will buy and use it.

I have a backyard which doesn't provide a unique ambiance of being in a medium to small sized venue, in terms of sound warmth and presence. I require some character of punchiness, more resonance, and tad bit of lustrous highs but not metallic or honky. As if I was in a thicker quality cabin with thicker grade wooden floors. Maybe like an immaculate Bass pro Shops , luxury scale log home with slight resonances of course w/ wooden floors thick.

My system is 2 Peavy qw4 over 2 EV px2182 powered by ev amps behringer xover and deq2496, I use an allen and heath mixer with digital outs/ ins, denon cd table top players with coax outs.
It all sounds dry , but clear as a bell. I dont need content under 35hz. I don't slam the subs with 40hz , mof I taper off at 40hz and dramatically reduce eq from 40hz down.

Will I get away with using the aphex for this application at minimal to conservative use , providing that I don't want to fiddle with eq every time I play pre recorded content which might change in genres every 4th song . Motown ñ 80s rnb, 90's dance red hot Chili Peppers, and electro Miami style bass , or booty bass music?

Second question is, why are you using dual 15" loaded full-range "tops" with subs? You are carrying around twice as large of a "top" than you should be.

Third question is, for how many people, how loud and what, exactly, are you trying to accomplish?

Will this setup work? It should work as long as everything is set up and connected properly. Will the aphex exciter help? Help with what? You want it to sound better? Then get rid of the Peavey and EV cabinets, and build yourself a pair of DR250s and a pair of T39s. You can polish a turd, or put lipstick on a hog, but it's still...

My experience with this sort of device is that they can make a bad speaker sound better, but they'll make a good speaker sound worse. I can't recommend their use with our speakers.

The paper is available for a price , but I think the review of the paper is in pdf here, if not, then what I downloaded in pdf was the actual paper, I really skimmed through it. . I

I come to this site because I plan on building a more portable system SOON. And I don't care about distortion minimallization , that's just a side benefit for me. The aphex does not give distortion in choppy waves, only employees harmonic and musical content relating to frequencies below or above a certain parameter depending upon what sounds better to the user. I probably explained it all wrong. So, don't be harsh. I will get to building when I figure my sh--t out. literally. Btw this link does direct you to a site that is pretty professional and it sems like the real deal whhite paper, but not much time, so I'll be reading it on a break or so. Sorry for the run on sentences, non separation of paragphs , etc.

I'm not sure how you've come to the conclusion that there is no ability to fine tune.

According to the blurb, the FX X and Y can be cascaded for multiple FX on the one path, the parameters can be adjusted with time, wet to dry and the "expression" controls. That's about as much control as you would see in Alesis MPX series rack FX, which does as much as I need to add ambience.
And I see there is some adjustment in the "spacial crossover", at a minimum it's LF width adjustment.

Sure, buy it (the aphex) for your studio or whatever, but play around with the FX section and spatial crossover a heap more. It all may do quite a bit more than you think...
