That's a good idea; you could have someone help you along with the build if you don't have access to tools.

Perhaps Tom Smit has some boxes you could at least have a listen to, this way you will know what your end result will be. Sarnia doesn't look to be more than about a 3 hour drive from Toronto.

the Korean shop keeper is twisting my melons. In the first post you imply he has bought equipment on your behalf, and now there is the implication that you are going To buy it from him, with cash, according to his terms. please can you confirm this? It's 1am and I'm going to bed. ....We can pick up later today, but I think what I'm getting at is the deep shit alarm bells ringing in my head, whether you and/or this shop keeper are sincere or not.
Charles Jekinson, I rented equipment for the Charity's Christmas party, he started small, and then some how he went out and bought equipment for me to rent.

I ended up renting out other equipment because the large sub which he bought for me (which he would rent out for other people afterwards, and that's the key to this conundrum), couldn't fit in the taxi.

So I rented out equipment which other people used before me with no talk about going to purchase it.

A few weeks later I came back and said I was wanting to purchase sound equipment, so I would no longer rent. I think, "make the investment, it's worth the cost, the investment will pay off in the future."

The shop clerk, he's actually from India, said that I could buy the DYI hardware from him, but then he referred me the the audio guy, throwing a curve ball, with the Mackie's.

Byacey, thanks for your sense of humour! You gave many good chuckles on your post, re: testing out his equipment.

The sound guy also said the Mackie's have three drivers/cones, one inside the other making for more powerful sound with no mud. I didn't know speakers work that way.

You're right. I should find real professionals. A few months ago I think I met one. He has his own studio. He has connections with sound systems, so I'm considering whether or not I should follow through with him in the future.

I'm trying to take care of other things such as learning to DJing, promote ... it's a one man production right now. "It will grow," though as the director of the Charity Foundation who I work for said. She had experience having her own club many years ago.

Grant Bunter, thank you for clarifying about the "mud" issue. There is no issue. I really didn't think there was ... thanks for filling me in about the technical details, I find these things interesting and I plan on continuing to study the Sound Reinforcement manual.

sine143, thanks for the details to a "local fixit group." We'll (my friends and I who believe in this too) will plan to take a trip to Sarnia. I know of a few people who would be willing when our schedules can give us time for it.

Sorry for the confusion. You're all helpful and very patient. Thanks. :)

@ Tweakings: PM me when you come up with a date on the calendar, since I work either a day shift or an afternoon shift.
