You give humanity to much credit, Bill. When vehicles really started cranking the bass and I started hearing them 2 miles from my house as they approached, I invested heavily in Miracle Ear. It appears I made a wise decision . . .

To be fair, even one DR can cause serious hearing damage so it's totally up to the user how much hearing they want to loose; which is why whenever the wife and I go out we usually bring earplugs. It's a bit unfortunate but the trend seems to be that if it isn't damaging your ears it's not loud enough.

Very true.
As has been commmented on many time, Bill's designs are also very clear and celan.
For many, that clearness and cleaness seems to not be equated with loud.
My SPL meter tells me it is loud (if I let it get there), it just doesn't seem it...
Built:
DR 250: x 2 melded array, 2x CD horn, March 2012 plans.
T39's: 4 x 20" KL3010LF , 2 x 28" 3012LF.
WH8: x 6 with melded array wired series/parallel.
Bunter's Audio and Lighting "like"s would be most appreciated...

In January we have Aly & Fila, Alex Metric and Destructo and Febuary is going to be ridiculous! I wish some of the BFMer's could come!
For Terravita you don't even need the T60s, I don't think there's anything in those tracks under 60hz...

Anyway, what's the venue called so I can look for reviews which will simply be this smiley:

Yeah... I totally get that for most gigs those figures are indeed conservative. Just that in dance music they are optimistic. Horses for courses. Didn't want to put any noses out with that comment... Just trying to explain the overkill that bob is going for (and that I hope to get to some day). I know I will always need more speakers if I use ANY recommended audience figures. :)

In this case, this is more of a personal taste of how much bass you aim for. The suggested audience size from Bill's side doesn't weaken his cabs in comparision to other cabs, which are the most, if not only, important thing. I also tend to think the numbers are a bit exaggerated, but also I've recieved hearing damage listening to sound systems at levels I like.

Another interesting topic is, does bad(in yours/mine/whoevers opinion) music thru bad sound systems(lots of distortion) damage your ears in an earlier stage than if you really enjoy the experience and soundsystem? I can expose myself to good sound and music for loong periods of time but the opposite I can't stand... It's bleeding from my ears

High distortion results in a lot of artificial harmonic content in the midrange, where your hearing is the most sensitive and the most easily damaged. 105dB clean sounds much better and is less damaging than 95dB dirty.

Osse and Bill are spot on! Very loud sound systems that are clean are so much easier on your ears and you can go all night without it bothering you.. In Boston and Rhode Island most of the sound systems get pushed so hard (and its not even that loud) and they sound like garbage and fatigues your ears in a hurry.. Hence the reason for my madness!!!

Not sure what you decided to do with the t-60s: are all 12 loaded, or are some of them bluffing?
2 DR250s, 2 27" Lab15 T-60s, 2 30" Neo Titan 39s, 1 Autotuba...and looking for more!

those bottom dr280s look like toooo much splay to me. they'll be covering barely any audience and causing major floor reflections.

There is only 50' of dance floor in front of them.. they aim perfectly at the 4 quarters of the dance floor.. These will be power shaded so those bottom 2 cabs will be running a lot less hot than the ones above them.. Besides this venue will be heavily packed so not much if any dance floor will be exposed ..

Do you plan on putting grills in front of everything?
Those subs look like they're just waiting for douchbags to toss their trash down the throats.
